This is my first cow horn, I have 2 bison horns to my credit, I should stick with bison, I can get the color right on them, all black. No I wanted a cow horn to try some scrim shaw for a more personal horn, I stained the whole thing at first and then realized I liked the white better, so I started scraping and sanding and saw something I liked better than plain white, the stain I left added age to it, giving it a nice patina. I even sanded off some of my scrim in the process. I redid some , some I just left faded, I like it anyway, I went with a cedar end plug just to be different and I am going to make a cedar spout plug. I have a matching priming horn planned as well. I do think I will stick with bison after that.
