Hunted both yesterday and again this morning...never heard a gobble either morning...and never saw a tom in the couple of strutting areas I often seen them in...might as well have been using a squirrel call for all the good it did.

Saw birds in between the rain periods, but it was one here in a small green fied, then a couple there running across the road, then a big one I flushed ahead of me while walking quietly through the woods after some rain, then a couple foraging in a green field...frustrating to know there's a good flock (or two) on the property I hunt and still haven't pulled it together...still haven't made smoke, a little wiser & still learning, two Saturdays left...

On a more positive note, yesterday morning on one setup, I watched a hawk come after a gray squirrel 3 times in a half hour and the squirrel escaped each time...this morning I had a female ruby throated hummingbird appear inches in front of my face mask looking me over...darting a few inches left, a few inches right, up, down, trying to figure out what in the world this big blob was sitting there in HER woods...amazing scenarios in nature to watch first hand
