Hello
Say I have seen the darn things but can anyone tell me how to make a turkey wing bone, turkey call... now that was a mouth full eh?
Any ways Thanks Loyalistdawg

I think Outdoor Life has a article in the archives on making a wing bone call, slate call and box call. Elite Tactical Sources has links to a couple of difarent articles.

Google making a wingbone call, you will find directions.

I've made my share and usually give them away.

Although some say that you can't use domestic wing bones, you can. I've made them out of both.

Also heard the one about only making them out of hen bird wing bones. Believed that for awhile until I was shown how to use a straw and make the same sounds.

Good Luck,

Frank

 Thats a great site, my google didn't go to it..., after reading it, now here we go back down to the shop, and thanks a wing... :rotf:
My best regards Loyalistdawg

I used a similiar site and came up with this call:

Really pretty easy. Using it takes some getting used to, though.

LD I believe there are more instructions on how to make them over on the National Turkey Federation site too. I've made several hundred calls over the years gave some away sold a few. Iffen ya have any questions PM me n maybe I can help ya out. They are pretty simple to make but can be a bit time consumeing. History wise the best I have been able to find is that just the smallest bone in the wing was used early on with the two piece call becomeing popular in the 1800s and the three piece actually more into the 1900s. The major sporting goods companies found that the three piece was assteticly pleaseing to the eye and sold better then any of the others. They even went so far as to make some out of Bakealite(sp)useing actual bones for the molds. Don't listen to any of the BS that ya can only use wild bones or hen bones won't work etc. I've used them all both wild n domestic and the turkeys never seemed to mind the difference. The biggest difference that I can see is that the bones from a wild bird are much thicker(the wall of the bone) and therefore sturdier and will hold up to a bit more abuse then the domestic birds bones which are pretty thin thickness wise. I use mine more or less as a locator call, walk a bit, call alittle n see if ya get a response. When ya do set yerself up. Useing a wingbone when the birds get in close is tuff because ya need to use both hands n the birds will catch yer movements. hope this helps some YMHS Birdman
