Interesting here. The last couple of days the weather has been fairly mild but windy. Nary a squirrel to be seen. We have lots of oak mature oak trees and drays in the neighborhood but the squirrels just haven’t been out.

Without a doubt, this time of year, for at least this neck of the woods, it can be difficult for one to find a squirrel. We know the kind of days they prefer most, such as warm and sunny with little to no wind. However, those little fellas can flat out fool us at times as well. As I have posted, last week I killed a large gray squirrel in totally untypical weather conditions for squirrels to usually be out in. Cool, cloudy and gusty winds. Amazing!

It would be nearly a sure bet that most of those situations are due to them searching for food. The one I killed last week was after bur oak acorns.

Yesterday was the day I had been waiting for. It was warm, sunny with a slight steady breeze. I was not able to go out due to being ill. Those type of days are fairly rare here in this location for this time of year. No telling when the next good days might come to visit.

Not going Tom. I’ve got vertigo 😡
I'm sorry to hear of that, Jim. I feel bad for you. I hope you have a Merry Christmas anyway.

Its going to be only me and the wife this year. We don't even have a Christmas tree up this year. We had planned on having Christmas down in TN with my family but due to illness, we are not going.

Did you save one of those backstraps from that buck you got this year for Christmas dinner 10 spot?
Yep, sure do, was going to put on the grill, went to fire it up,and the burners
Have rusted out, might just remove
The burners and use good ole charcoal , I will have some back strap
One way or the other

Better with charcoal and a hunk of hickory IMHO. All the same, good feeling to share meat you made with BP with the family 👍
