only turkey I have gotten, 26 years ago was with a 45 cal. side lock. missed the head shot, shot in the breast. wasn't to bad.

Have used my .40 with round ball here in WV and years ago was hunting the early ,ml season in VA and used a .50 with round ball. Dan.

I have killed a bunch with my .50 TC H. One at 125 Yds. All in VA many years ago.

Michigan doesn't allow rifles on turkeys. I use #6 shot in my flinter and take a bird every year

AZ Shot gun only (one can also use archery in about any season). No stipulation on size of shot or gun. When I was young(er) LOL you could use any cf or a .22 mag. They changed that years ago as well as Javlina. Now I believe .22 mag legal again for the lil pigs.

I once shot a jake at 8 fet with my pedersoli 10GA dbl. As I approached to pick him up I heard a rukus and found another Jake 30 yds away in heavy brush that had accidentally been harvested  , never saw him before the shot. He was not wasted.

Of all the game Iv'e hunted I have more incredible un believable stories about turkeys than any other. My most FAVORED HUNT by far. Got a tag in April this year. Hope to find time to pattern (and learn to properly shoot) my 20 GA dbl check slapping SOB for this but may have to use the ol CVA Gobbler.

I'm hoping to take one with a .54 round all this season. I've been in the woods the past few years and missed opportunities on coyote and hogs that could be taken with a rifle, but not a shotgun with #5 shot!

In GA you can muzzleloader hunt turkeys. I'm looking forward to it. It'll be my first bird with a .50 PRB.
