Does the Turpin Video "Building Muzzle Loaders" start from a precarved stock or a stock blank?
Is this tape worth the purchase price?

Thanks for any help.

Are you referring to the video geared specifically to the building of a Chambers kit?

If so, it is on a a precarve. Solid advice and instructions, Hollywood quality visuals, it is not.

Thanks for the reply, should have been a little more descriptive in my post.

While I was looking around the Primitive Arts Website I found that they had several videos. One of them is the Chambers video (I am leaning towards a Chambers kit anyway) and others by the same Guy (Turpin).

Just wondering if any one has watched the first one (ie the top) on that page.

Also if memory serves well I remeber seeing adds for a "Hershel House" video in Muzzle Blasts. (Several Years ago).

NCWes, I have the first two Turpin videos. If I remember correctly he shows both ways. I will have to scan it to be sure. I enjoyed both of his videos. I also have the Peter A. video set, it is very informative also. But... Even after watching all of the videos and reading two books (Peters' and the Recreating book) I still have questions! - A LOT! I'm still fumbling through my first build from a pre-carve. I think I'm on the 12 month build plan as it has been put on hold while I do "spring" stuff and I have gutted my workroom for painting. I'm just beginning to make a Chambers York and have the Turpin video. I've said in other recent postings that I think it's excellent in many respects, but there are some areas that are inadequate - most notably how to instal the touchhole, which only appears as a kind of footnote. So far I've also wanted better visuals on inletting the barrel. So my advice is to get this but also do what I've done, and order a selection of other videos and books.

I have the first video and liked it. The one thing I wish he would have explained more is installing the breech plug. He shows how to screw it in and mark it, but not what to do if you can't get the flats to line up. That was somethingI was hoping would have been covered.Other tan that I liked it and learned a lot.
