Hi all,
I have long wanted to do my own build, but if I'm being honest with myself, I probably do not have the skill and equipment required.
My budget for a gun caps out at $1k. I see that TVM Natchez has a line of completed guns, the Natchez Poor Boy for $999.
Does anyone have any experience with this particular variety of theirs? It seems tempting. It's either that of a Pedersoli Frontier that I'd try to defarb some.
Thanks for your time,
-dgfd

I don’t have that specific model from TVM. But I can tell you from my own experience TVM is top notch. I own several TVMs and am completely happy. Had I the $$$ I would order more. Comparing a Pedersoli to a TVM is like comparing a Ford vs Mercedes.

TVM generally quite good guns that are somewhere better than most factory guns and not quite as nice as true customs. I have a TN Mtn Rifle from them and like it a lot. I kinda wish it had a swamped barrel, but there's nothing to complain about in terms of how well the rifle was built. Everything is really well done.

I have one on order in 45 cal. I handled several of their rifles at the shop in Natchez and they all looked and felt awesome. Great folks and talented builders there. You might call them on the price though, the listed prices say “good through Dec 2020”. The cost of the Poor Boy was slated to increase in 2021, but they may still honor it.

Sitting Fox guns are built by several different folks. He just sells them. Might be some variability in the quality of the work. I have never had any of their work.

I ordered back October was told it might be October before I get my gun. Being said iv been putting a southern rifle of jim kibler together for a good friend friend of mine got last Friday it will be finished by Sunday

Jim always has excellent wood, exacting fit and quality. They don’t offer many options if you want something specific. I bought a colonial and waiting for a fowler to be offered
