I'm thinking of getting a Tennessee Pistol from TVM (Matt Avance).
I hear they're pretty good shooters.
Has anyone had good ”” or bad ”” luck with theirs?

:hmm: Call first to see what they have ready to go. Anything they make you can be happy with---however, the waiting time is what may not make you happy. You could buy the kit and have another Gunsmith finish it for you in 2-3 months. I had the Gun Works do a .40 cal flint to pair with my TVM .40 Po'Boy flinter. Took 2 months and I got a great pistol for a lot less---with a lot better craftsmanship IMHO. :thumbsup:

Pasquenel-

Is the pistol you got from the Gun Works one of their English Manton types? I have been considering ordering one myself but was curious about how they balance, etc.

Those folks at The Gun Works have been highly reccomended here and based on that I ordered a .50 flinter pistol for my wife.Real nice folks to deal with. :thumbsup:

:bow: Yes it is a Manton look alike and it's gorgeous---with a finish like a piece of furniture. I will post some pictures as soon as I get the sleepies out of my eyes (allergies) and drink the mandatory coffee, which is to prime and get the bilge pumps working. :hatsoff:

Thanks for the info. It looks like a real nice piece on the web site although the photos are pretty small. Sights seem to be a little taller than I would like, but that is easily remedied.

I think I might soon be reallocating some of my "allowance" money.

I have both, a TVM Southern style. And an English Manton TGW. The TVM is a big .50 Cal. with a 7/8" barrel 11" long. I use it for shooting Iron and long range pistol shoots.{Beyond .50 Yds}
The TGW Manton is a .40 Cal. SS trigger .40 Cal.13/16" barrel. This is a very well finsihed and balanced gun. It is used for paper at 25 and 50 Yds. I like both guns. I use the .50 Cal. more, because I do more Trail shooting and back country shooting at Rock Chucks Etc. You will not go wrong either way. :thumbsup:
