I asked them if they used the white lightning and they told me that they didn't,but the liner that they use is coned like the chambers. They might use one if you ask them to,but I don't remember hearing of anyone that complained about the ones that they use. Maybe someone with a tvm flint can chime in here and tell us about how fast the ignition is with the liner they use.

Well, as a lark, I brought in a TVM Early Virginia that Matt built in .54 Cal to a Cabela's. I'd had a hard time believing what they were offering on a couple of guns I brought in prior...so I thought for chits and grins I'd bring in this one to the guy at the gun library.

You guys would prolly give me what they offered. How's about $400 bucks... :rotf: That's with the patchbox works and a few other extra's.... :youcrazy: But hey, for a mere $650 they's sell you a Pedersoli Frontier...

:barf:

I have an early Virginia that Jack made years ago. It has a .50 X42" 13/16" barrel. Balances like a dream and is very accurate.

I've got a few TVM flints and the liners are coned. They work absolutely fine. I always drill mine out to 1/16" but that's usually a must for all liners. I see no need to replace them.

Thats kinda what I figured. I have a rifle with a white lightning on it and I drilled it to a 1/16" also and it is very fast. I don't think Matt would use something that wouldn't work well.

The wait officially begins for me today..... :)

My first dealing with TVM and after several emails back and forth with Toni I finally got a chance to speak to her today on the phone. What a sweet lady and a pleasure to talk to.

Ordered up an Early Lancaster .54
42" swamped Rice "C" barrel
Chambers deluxe siler lock
Super Premium wood with a wooden patchbox.

This is going to be a brutal 6-8 months! LOL

Matt, the time will go quicker than you think. 6-8 months is a quick turn around for a gun being built.

I know..... there's just something about the day you pull the trigger on an order and the anxiousness that begins the second the phone hangs up.

It's going to be tough talking with Toni and Matt at the Dixon's gunmakers fair in July, handling all those rifles and then putting them back on the rack!

Matt,Sounds like thats going to be a real nice one. I know what you mean about the wait being brutal. But I bet it will be worth it!
