Who says flintlocks can't kill?
One shot killed both of these deer! I aimed at the base of the neck of the one on my left in the picture while it was facing me. The shot went in, traveled 3/4 of the length of the spine, exited & hit the second deer right behind the left shoulder. Both deer dropped within 15 yards. I couldn't believe it when both deer went down! It's a good thing that I had more than one tag to fill.

Holy smokes, was talking to a friend about this just the other day with the way these round ball just zip right through these deer. Great shooting and great harvest!

Also really like the rifle, nice lock!

Congrats and you should really write a story about it!

Wow! :shocked2: Grats! :hatsoff:

How far was the shot?
Did you recover the ball from the 2nd deer?
Give us the details.

The shot was only about 40-50 yards.
I haven't recovered the ball yet, but when I quartered the second deer I saw that the ball had broken a left rib on entry, caught the left lung, angled through just along the bottom of the spine and appears to have stopped in the right hind quarter. There was not an exit wound, so I expect to find the ball today when I bone out the hind quarter.

 Way to go, that is amazing. Many years ago a friend with a .54 GPR hit a doe at 60 yards and the force of her going down knocked the doe beside her down, but never injured her.

Nahh, it's like pool - don't count unless you call it before the shot! :rotf:

Awesome, congrats!

Nice shot....lucky you had 2 tags. Otherwise it would have been fun to hear you explain it to the Game Commission..."No really officer...I only meant to get one with a flintlock. Do you want me to put the other one back??? :rotf: "

Anyway...nice shot!
