Uberti 1849 pocket

Hi guys, I have a new Uberti 1849 Pocket .31 caliber
This is my first bp pistol so I'm just not real sure about the ball sizes.
The pistol is a .31 caliber, the box of round balls are .310
The .310 ball wont drop in the barrel but will fall in the cylinder.
When I mic the cylinder bore I'm getting .316

Any Ideas ?

I just started shooting a new to me Uberti 1849 and .323 diameter balls load well, makes a ring and shoots very accurately.

I have purchased an antique mold that comes pretty close to what I want for my Uberti pocket.

with this said, I usually use cannibalized Winchester #00 buckshot which measures around .325 and weighs 51.7 grains on my old Lyman balance scale. leaves a nice ring usually.

I cast .33 00 buckshot and eras gone conicals at .33 for mine.
Shoots great I load off gun on a press.

Maybe I'm over thinking this, but if the barrel is set for a .310 and the cylinder is .316 , wont the ball be to big for the barrel ?
I know there's a pressed fit involved, but I just don't know how much is acceptable .
And the cylinder is .316 so how much over that should I strive for ? .320 ?

the large cone in the gap acts as a forcing cone.

take some measurements at various depths on the cone and you will see.

and yeah, was worried about no chamfering on the face until I figured this out.

the antique mold I bought mics at .328.

i havent cast one for round balls from the mold pictured below.....have only done conicals

Eras gone after being shot into some compressed hardback books.
11 grains of t7 at about 10' pretty good all around for such a small gun.

Pics suck but the rifling looks good obviously well engaged with excellent performance and little weight loss.
