I had a mishap with my Woodsrunner build recently but after the tears dried up I realized an opportunity. I finally found a butt stock for my H&A underhammer action. Salvaging this marvelous piece of maple is a huge relief. I plan on all steel hardware...browned. IMG_20241119_125743.jpgIMG_20241119_125640.jpgIMG_20241119_124212.jpg

Here's a question...are the hammer and trigger serviceable as received or do they require hardening?

Also the stock bolt is actually the shaft from an impact puller hammer... ought to hold up.

Talk about making a silk purse from a sow’s ear! I have an H&A under hammer that is great to shoot, but it is very “utilitarian”. No time was wasted on finishes or any type of ornamentation.
Please post a good full length photo when you are done.

I really like it, and I've been a fan of the H&A under hammers since the 70s.

Wow yes nice piece of wood! I agree with all above would love to see an end of project pics/video. I own several underhammers (my fav) on the H&A action and only one has decent wood like that.
