I noticed on all the ancient harquebus I saw, that at the early matchlock stage none of the guns have a tang. Barrels just butt directly against wood.
Which lead me to wonder when they started to make a tang for guns?

Figured y'all might know the answer to that one.

Don't know when first tangs appeared, but some had them by the 1520's at any rate.
