Thank you for the tip on the scope. I just ordered one that is smaller in diameter by 1 mm.

Wire bent in a hook to fit around cable and taped on, then taped to bit of dowel. It forces the camera to focus at a short distance, so the section of barrel between the camera and dowel can be seen.
