Ok slingers, ever have any issues with the sling chafing or leaving wear marks on your beautiful hand-finished stocks? Talking about the universal types that have loops that slip over the forestock and wrist.

No - one end ties to the front of the trigger-guard and the other end around the stock, barrel and RR thimble.

Yes - I understand.
However, there are other options that may be a better choice....hence my response.

What other options are available? The only kind I have seen are the ones with loops that slip over barrel and wrist...

There are slings mounted with a forward sling-swivel and stud on the butt-stock or a forward sling-swivel and a swivel mounted through the front of the trigger guard. Then there is the home-made variety such as mine that ties to the front of the trigger guard and around the barrel/stock/thimble with thin leather thongs.

The one that loops around the wrist (or butt) and barrel looks bulky and is, quite frankly, ugly.

Like Black Hand said, you can have sling swivels put on your gun to attach a custom sling or one you make yourself
