Vintage CVA sidelock Wolf. 50 cal

This is a weird one. I don't know if it qualifies as a traditional ML or a modern. I have a chance to acquire a CVA stainless Silver Wolf .50 cal, two digit sn# in the box. It looks like a traditional rifle, sort of. it has a percussion drum, side lock, hammer, but has a pistol grip composite stock and a round barrel. Does anyone know what barrel twist this old CVA might be? It is not an in line. I cant find any info about the early CVA

That’s wild that is called the Wolf. That’s the name they gave one of their inline models. There is a CVA model like yours that is blued with an identical wood stock called the Stalker. You may have something very unusual.

Definitely buy it. Sorta looks like a traditions deerhunter. Most likely a 1/48 twist but if it's a short barrel carbine might be a faster twist.

1/38 twist. Good for conical bullets. It's a side hammer gun, sorta traditional.

Other than the stock being plastic and the stainless barrel and lock It is still a muzzleloader that follows traditional lines such as cap lock and loads from the muzzle, so with that being said perhaps it would fall under production and usage name of BUY IT,GO SHOOT IT, AND ENJOY IT.

The buy it advice is good depending on price. I wouldn't pay $500 for it but in the $200 range I'd be tempted.

I'm at $150.00 on it and it is just to throw in the truck for an up coming hunt just in case one of the primary guns develops a problem.

I would be real tempted if I found one in that price range for a knock around gun or loaner.

I was curious about that rifle and did a quick search. One sold on a auction site back in 2008, or so for $80.00, so 150 dollars today is a good price.
It will probably shoot real good with some of the unmentionable bullets out there.

I just bought the same rifle but with mossy oak stock and blued barrel got it for $115 it's seems pretty sweet hasn't been shot .much or at all.
