It's missing the 'lollypop' peep sight. Nipple is a bit banged up, thanks for the info about TOW

You got a good deal, you will enjoy. The peep sight probably isn't "missing". It was an optional item and your rifle may never have had one.
Keep in mind, the nipples are not standard. Wrong nipple can end up embedded in your arm. :shocked2:
Tell TOW what you have and they will provide proper nipple for you. We had a thread on this issue at one time.

Everyone,
My mistake. The 2 UH's that are available are both in .45 caliber, I apologize for the confusion.

Thanks! Yeah, the hole for the sight looks like it was never used. It needs quite a bit of work, mainly the barrel pin is pretty hammered.

If you are talking about the tapered pin that holds the barrel to the action, throw it away and replace it with a roll pin.

Exactly what I was thinking. I got the buttstock fixed short term. Small wooden dowels from various angles epoxied in place seems to have fixed the cracks for the moment. I'm making a lollypop sight, in fact I weld the base up tomorrow. All I've had to go by is a few pics on the internet.

Rifleman,
I don't have an argument re the tapered pin working. In the past I had a couple that would work loose after a few stout charges and found that the roll pin stayed in place. It can still be removed with a flat punch. On the heavy target and chunk guns I drilled the hole out straight, tapped it and screwed in a cap bolt, through the action and tang, with the head recessed.

Finally got around to making my own 'lollypop' sight...

On my H&A I threaded the receiver hole and the rear of the new breech plug I made. Indexed it to top dead center and then threaded the old taper pin holes to except plug screws. This locks it down with barrel receiver threads and the camming action of the plug screws on each side. Perhaps over kill but now has a much stronger barrel to action joint than just the tapered pin it came with.
Nice looking lolly pop sight! MD
