Well, Math and I were never close, to say the least. My question is this, I want to buy 2 wad punches, .54 and .58. All I find online and in the more popular sites are in decimal form. So....for a tight fit, what are the correct sizes in decimal form for these 2 calibers? Help is more than appreciated! Randy

I would get metric punches.....14mm = .551 and 15mm = .590

That said, making a hollow punch would be a simple task for a machinist. making your own is also easy if you can find the right diameter pipe.

Here's your source for a punch: http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb/showuser.php?uid/16531/

He will make you a punch of whatever size you need and his prices are more than fair. If you have a press such as a drill press or bearing press, ask about one of his press adaptors for your punch. I have a few of his punches and they are great. I also have one of his drill press adaptors and it really makes your drill press a useful tool for making wads.

You can buy your 100% wool wad material from Duro Felt. They have one grade of felt that is specifically for wads http://www.durofelt.com/image_26.html

The way I lube my wads is to take a sheet of felt and "butter" it with the lube of my choice making sure that I get the felt buttered all the way to the edges. Then I put the felt sheet into the microwave just long enough to melt the lube into the felt. Let it cool and then start punching your pre-lubed wads.

Does anyone have a correct e-mail address for Ramrod--the punch maker?? The e-mail address given here is incorrect at this time.

Just click on the profile that I gave you and then click on the private message tab and send him a private message. He will get that and you can then tell him to update his email address. That's probably how our friend Blackfingers got in touch with him.

I have tried several times to get the site to update the email, but it doesn't get through. The site does notify me by the current email [email protected] whenever some one sends me a private topic. So go figure. :idunno:
