went to wally world today and found some good stuff in the crafts section. cream cotton strapping 1 1/2 wide for 1.13 a yrd also some 3/4 inch of the same for .23 a yrd then theres some tins bout 1 inch in diameter maybe an inch tall for .98 for a three pack dunno bout you guys but where i live in tennessee i dont have accces to a bunh of suppliers so i gotta look around and scrape by or order it via the mail so i get excited when i find stuff i need at wally world or local flea markets such as the strapping cuz im an aspiring pouch builder and i try to use as much natural stuff as possible buckskin and cowhide dont look good with nylon straps and im found of fabric straps

i like to shop there for material too and flea markets i just didnt want to tell my secrects some of theese guys here buy the same stuff you get there for 6 bucks a yard when at wal mart you can get it for a dollar :front:

My best find this year at Wally was a roll of 50 feet of leather rawhide(shoe lace size). Clearence for $1.00. I needed about a foot to replace a sling on a Turkish Mauser.

yup thats way i work at wally world cause i gits there 10% discount ::...............bob

I buy a good bit of fabric there. If you look in the wedding section they also have a box of 12 nice glass bottles. Just the right size for salt/oil...whatever you need a glass bottle for. I'm using them to put together a "period" medical kit.

Ya Ya...I know it won't be period with Tylenol and the like, but it'll be good enough for me.

I got the CCI Musket caps for a dollar a tin. And 777 for 5 bucks a pound at the end of hunting season. What is the shelf life of CCI musket caps? I bought 1500. ::

GW, you did good. I would bet that you could put those CCI caps in your "Will". I have a few tins of old caps that I bought at a gun show and the tins are rusty and the lables fell off, but they shoot fine.

I bought my dad a CVA kit ~ 1975. He built the pistol and a presentatuion case, bought two tins of caps, a powder flask and some balls and patches. They were never used, the pistol sat in the box on the mantle until he died in 2000. My mother gave me the whole lot at that time. I shot the last caps a couple of weeks ago. 30 years old and the caps fired perfectly.

last hunting season ended and the wall world discount cought me eye 20 cci musket caps (what a find) extra powder measures and those remminton #11 8 tins everything was a 20 bucks now that was a deal. bb75

I got a 30-yr old "tin" (lt blue plastic) of CVA caps that don't go BANG any better now than they did then. :haha:

Riley, I gave a friend of mine 1000 of them caps because they fit his rifle and not mine. They have always shot fine for him even in hunting situations and he reminds me of that all the time :curse:

I only paid $10 for them so it ain't the money I wish he would just shoot um and shut up. The were labeled as #11 caps but fit more like a #10 I bet they were made for pistols.

River Rat, Thanks for the reply. I have RWS caps left over from the early 70's (about 1000). They work fine. They had tape around the edge seam of the tins. I taped up the new tins I bought and stashed them. I bought 5000 of the RWS from Dixie in '72 or '73 and they have been fine. I have about 750 original civil war caps. About 1 in 5 work. :grey:

Found the bottles in the craft area of Walmart with their wedding supplies. Comes with 6 bottles now instead of 12 and costs about $5-$6. They come with a small funnel to make it easer to fill them.

Peeled off the "love potion" sticker and removed the foofy ribbon from around the neck. Put some gun oil in one and some MAP cleaning solution in another and put them in my possibles bag. Little cork stoppers haven't leaked yet. I'm also going to use them for salt and pepper.

No problem putting pills in them. Compressed tablets have been around forever, so no problem letting them show through.

Liquid-filled gel-caps might go better in an Altoids tin that you've burned the paint off with a propane torch and taken some sandpaper to. Just fold them up in a piece of paper and put them inside the tin.
