Zonie, that soft silver cylinder Walker looks nice!

If remembering correctly quite a few years ago Armi San Marco (ASM) sold a Walker with a stainless steel cylinder. Think they did it for a couple years; remember seeing them in Shotgun News ads for quite a while.

Had one at some point and let it slip away.

p.s. edited to add: I second what David Teague said about trying prospective purchases in your hand before buying (if possible).

One of each model is the minimum for a true horse pistol aficionado. I started my second round of BP insanity with this 2nd gen Colt Walker several years ago.

This multiplied into several Dragoons.

This Whitneyville by Uberti is currently my favorite shooter.

The Walker is a real unique handgun. Loaded to Max. levels or on the light side. You are holding the first powerful handgun made. This has become an American tradition. I know of no other country that has developed powerful side arms like we Americans.

I Have Looked In The "Search" System But Can't Find The Info For Filing The Catch On My Dragoon To Stop The Loading Lever From Premature Falling. Can You Be A Bit More Specific In The Threads Location ? :idunno: Nilo52

mykeal,

I'll start collecting them after the Son gets through college--last month he informed us that he'd like to stay in school to get his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, so I'm a little short on the funds for collecting multiple models of the same gun :idunno: , but I wish I could!

If you need my address for your new Will, I'll gladly forward it to you! (Just kidding!)

They all sure do look purty though!

Before attempting to fix a drooping Dragoon lever by filing anything, try installing a stronger replacment spring. It was reported that a spring from a Gibson Humbucker guitar pickup [or similar] as pictured makes a perfect fitting stronger replacement spring and only needs to be dropped in to fix the problem. Simply remove the spring retaining pin by using the correct diameter drift punch, and then visit your nearest guitar shop to see if they have the replacement pickup spring that fits. The guitar pickup spring is longer and beefier than the OEM part, and really locks the loading lever against the retaining clip. Please let us know how this works out for you.

Just got a copy of Texas Monthly -- special tribute celebrating 25 years since "Lonesome Dove" hit the stands. There are some great photos in there, including one of Gus's Walker. And guess what -- the cylinder is in the white!
Plan to do that to mine too.

Hello
Would anyone know where I could get the loading lever catch for ASM Dragoon or something similar to be fitted?

DGW has had all kinds of spare parts for decades. Track and other probably can help as well.

I've got the Uberti 3rd Model Dragoon. Plenty big for my little mitts, but an eye-opener when shooting next bench over from the loudmouth with his mongo .44 Mag. EVERYONE stops to watch the smoke clear and to comment on the shockwave that rattles their guts whenever the Dragoon speaks.

They say you need one of each, but for my next, I'd opt for the Whitneyville over a Walker.

It might be a good idea to know which of the Dragoons this is.

Colt was busy modifying the barrel latch following the poor results on the Walker.

I'm not sure the Italians fully reproduced the First, Second and Third model correctly but the latches on the originals were all different.
