I picked up this old muzzleloader for a “Wall Relic” and hope somebody can provide some information on its origin. There is no markings of any kind visible on it and it appears to be a 12 gauge modified from a military gun. It has a 1/2 octagon and 1/2 round barrel. Any info would be appreciated.

Don't know exactly what kind of musket it started out as, but that's what some of my "projects" start out looking like. 50 years later, most still look like that. Sometimes (rarely) I find a replacement stock, etc. to make something. Enjoy.

This one is just destined to hang in my “Dog House” I spend a lot of time there! Lol

I think 1n 1972 , I had one of those. It was around .72. I unbreeched it , and emoryed the inside of the pitted barrel with a piece of 3/8" rod stock , with a slot cut in it. Made an emory cloth hone out of the rod , turned the rod w/ an electric drill , and cleaned the bore good enough it could be fired. Had some fun shooting it ,and sold it to a collector.
