I'm looking for a mold/mould which casts a .610" round ball, not smaller or larger, but exactly .610". Barring that, does anyone have a .610" diameter round ball which I could try? My 20ga. smoothbore will accept a .610" ball and I'd like to try loading it with tow over the powder and over the ball itself.

You can order a mould from Jeff Tanner

Or, you can get a .600" mould from Lee.
But, first, do check to see if a ball that size will work in your bore when patched.
My 20 ga. fowler requires a mallet to seat a .600" patched ball.
I just recently purchased a .590" mould from Tanner but haven't tried yet.

Track of the Wolf, TOW, has 0.610 round balls available in stock. The catalog number is BALL-610-X.

Track is a little pricey for 25 balls at $8.99 and shipping on top of that. Still that is cheaper than the cost of a mold and handles from Jeff Tanner and the cost of lead and something to melt the lead in.

Have you measured your bore and it measures 0.610"? To go with the bare ball and a tow wad, I think the bare ball should be 0.005" to 0.010" less than the bore diameter. I use a 0.600" round ball in a bore of 0.615 in the bare ball configuration of tow, ball and tow.

Don't expect to get rifle accuracy from a smoothbore no matter how exact the ball is fit to the bore. Let us know how the 0.610" ball works for you.
