I am the vice pres. of a local hunting club and would like to start a black powder club within the club. any ideas or suggestions would be great. The club has a shooting range we could use for some type of competitive shooting ect. just trying to get some guys with a common interest together for some fun . ANY IDEAS

I guess you would first have to question the membership to see if there are enough like minded people to have a ML club within the other club, If you have a good response then it is a matter of maybe picking a day every month to shoot, a trail walk is the best thing if possible but many ranges are limited to a covered row of fireing stations, but the targets can be played around with to make it interesting,You may have to get into the politics of the existing club if there might be any conflict of interests or rules by bringing a lot of BP into the picture, good luck with the venture and keep us posted.

I agree with tg. If it will generate some money into the club and if there's enough people interested it will do good.

We took in a club that was orphaned and it has been a plus. They are a part of the club not really seperate and it has drawn members from the ranks to start shooting mls. So pole your members. See what intrest you have. Work with your officers and set dates for shoots and see what response takes place. Hope you have a good turnout!

Where in Pa are you located? I would be VERY interested in getting involved if the location is right.

Also as for information check with the Pennsylvania Federation of Black Powder Shooters. PM me a valid email addy and I will send you the contact information.

Hey Hawkeye...where in PA you located. We have a club near Pittsburgh. (West Mifflin area)

Here in Germany we have similar construction. We have the main club and within this we have groups of other clubs. The members are in both clubs.
Works well.

I did start a muzzleloading division of the Gem County Rod and Gun Club last year. The Club has 400+ members in a County of 15,000 people.
I went to the board of directors and asked permission to stage a montly ML shoot. It was granted as the club policy is to encourage all the shooting disciplines.
We average 10 12 shooters per shoot and are the only division of the club to shoot over the winter months. Cow Boy Action, Practical Pistol,
Full Auto, and Bullseye all shut down for the winter.
Our montly format has become: a 8-10 shot trailwalk, A cap and ball revolver "Sheriff challenge" and a team shoot of some sort. In blizzards or the heat of Southern Idaho Summer only the die hards particiapate but we have gained pan climatic experience with our smoke poles.
