Got hooked a couple of weeks ago. I fired a percussion I've had on the wall for years. Now I want a flintlock. Can't spend alot of money on the first one, just want something to get used to flinting. As a last resort, I'm looking at the Traditions Deluxe .50 cal Kentucky. I like the look of the full stock and the double triggers.
I see alot of percussion, not many flinters.

Whatch got out there.

Thanks,
MartyO

The Traditions Percussion is a rock-solid choice. I own several. I've had them for several decades. Not once have I had any problem with any of them.

The flinters get mixed reviews. Some say the frizzens are too soft. But this seems to have been corrected decades ago.

My only concern with a Traditions flinter is: Are they built with the same patent breech/false breech used in their percussion rifles? If so, I don't think I'd buy one. And if I did, I would definitely drill that false breech wall right out of there. So the vent has a direct line to the powder charge.

I've always wanted a Deluxe Kentuckyish because of the double triggers, but I hate patch boxes.

There you have it. Fine firearms for less that 500 bucks.

Enter the people who hate Traditions.
