I am talking about the thread here on the Hy-Hunter Pistol in this column back in November. IMPORTANT!!! I purchased one of these new back in the early 60's. This pistol is a den-decorator. The frizzen is not hardened properly, and I don't think it was ever supposed to be. The main and sear springs will break on you. The reason for the cone at the muzzle is so so no one can force a muzzle-size ball down the barrel. BUT, MOST IMPORTANT: THE BREACH PLUG IS "SWEATED" IN THE BARREL - WITH NO THREADS. I was only 14 years old then, and was shooting blank loads, until I found out all of the above. The bore is not even polished. Yes, I too have seen these at a couple of gun shows. REMEMBER: No breach plug threads. At least on mine. I would not shoot it. Maybe I was just lucky. 45nut, I hope you see this email. Let me know. Rick. :shocked2: :shocked2:

Well done! Lump that one in with the early H&R's Safari's (?) that had the press-fit breech plugs.

Well now,,that is interesting. I actually was able to fire that pistol this past weekend and was just coming back to report on it when I saw this.
It does shoot and without a hitch ,,the hammer was dragging on the lockplate a bit and once that was taken care of it sparked and fired fine. Actually the only hangup was splitting the stock after about 50 shots.
