Hi guys, this past weekend I hunted in the Tugela Valley and took a nice size sow. Charge was 100gr FFg pushing a 475gr .451 conical out of my Ardesa Hawken. 45m spinal shot brought it down hard, as if hit by a train.

Here is my quarry

And some scenery

Beautiful scenery; ugly looking critter (the hog I mean  ) Are they good eating or do you hunt just for the sport?

Yep, old Pumba is not a oil painting at all. :rotf:

They have excellent meat soggy. I handed the carcass in today at the butchery. They will be making some salami and cabanossi.

Heres some more scenery.

You can make your own sausage, using the recipe I have posted at the bottom of the index page to the forum. Why pay someone else to make it, when you can flavor it to your own taste, and make it at home? You don't need either a sausage press, or fetal pig intestines. And you don't smoke them in a smokehouse, either.

Congrats on the hog. And that's some dandy looking country. When are we all invited down for a hunt?

snagg, I can always make a plan when one of you come over this side of the Atlantic.

I think that would be a dandy hunt. I'd better start saving my pennies.

what is the big tank next to the fire ring? is that a smoker??? I am making 30 lb, about 15 rolls of salami-summer sausage from deer and pork for Christmass Gifts. If it is a smoker great idea if not I know what I am looking for at the scrap yard.

buttonbuck, you got the nail on the head.  If you need hot water, thats where you would get it.

Awesome pics! I have always wanted to go to Africa, but my tastes run towards the dangerous stuff

Dan

Dan, I know what you mean. One day I would love to shoot a Cape Buff. Dont underestimate any other African game. They all have the tendency to charge occasionally when wounded. Alot of guys has died thanks to severed femoral arteries from those razor sharp bottom tusks of a warthog. :shocked2:
