After enjoying the Christmas festivities I spent the evening cleaning up the garage and rearranging things to transition into the best gun making shop I could with the resources I had.

Is it ideal? Nope! But I am going to work with it. I have never in my life ever done anything like this and I am incredibly excited to get started on my Woodsrunner in the morning!!

Best recommendation I can give you is put weights or something on the table to keep it from moving around. Other than that have fun buddy. And remember there is no such things as oops or mistakes there are only character marks.

#1 tip: round both ends of your pins. Tap lightly and don't try to force them through.

Great! Have fun with it. I started my own Kibler (SMR) kit at Christmas too. I think I've spend 10 min watching videos to every 5 working on the rifle but it's allot of fun. ( Barrel and trigger is fitted. Lock will be today. ) I'm building mine in a crowded basement. I envy the space you have there!

Hey, y’all!

Okay so it’s going… okay… so far minus one thing!

My patchbox was super snug so I had to remove material from it to try and get it to fit. Well I didn’t use any inletting black or anything and not thinking, took wood off the rear of the lid. Now I’ve got a bunch of awful looking gaps there. Not so good!

I messaged Jim and crew to order another lid. I’ll be much more careful next time!!

Other than that, everything is put together and it all fit marevelously!!

So I’m going to lick my wounds and keep pressing forward. You live and you learn. Again, I have never done this. I’m trying as best I can!!

i have done several WR, i have had to remove some wood from the dove tail by slowly scraping with a razor knife. but the last two needed no wood removal, just fitting of the metal latch. be careful and go slow! be particularly carful with the pins! they are usually very/too tight and will blow out wood when you tap them through if you are not very careful! make sure you round the edges with a belt sander or grinder, so they don't grab wood when you tap them through, go slow!

Absolutely. Going into the holes with a 1/16" bit to clean them out a little and lubing the pins with wax helps a lot too.

All pins minus the barrel pins are in. No blow outs. I ensured to round them and lube them with beeswax.
