The curl in that stock is beautiful, I can’t wait to see it after it’s been stained

Hey y’all!!

It’s been a while. I caught covid and am just now recovering. It was rough. Do not recommend.

Anyways, the parts arrived from Jim and crew and the rifle is not completed in the white!!

Even a dope like me could (eventually) figure it out.

So next step is sanding and finishing of the metal and wood pieces :)

I’ve already got the sideplate polished and halfway done with the T-guard. I’m going to brighten the lock next.

Thanks so much, gang!!!

After enjoying the Christmas festivities I spent the evening cleaning up the garage and rearranging things to transition into the best gun making shop I could with the resources I had.

Is it ideal? Nope! But I am going to work with it. I have never in my life ever done anything like this and I am incredibly excited to get started on my Woodsrunner in the morning!!

Merry Christmas🎄 and I’ll post updates as a complete novice tries his hand at a Kibler’s.

Thanks gang!!

That'll work nicely ! Just think about all the potential and advantage at your finger tips compared to our ancestors who were blessed to have a file and some scrap iron to start with.
These are simple kits to put together as all the tough stuff is already been done by Kibler but I would advise paying close attention to instruction video and sequence of assembly. It'll save you many fore head slaps, self inflicted. 😄

Absolutely. Going into the holes with a 1/16" bit to clean them out a little and lubing the pins with wax helps a lot too.
After you get done with the finish on the stock. Use that 1/16 drill to clean out all your pin holes. You'll be supprized how much build up finish that collects in the holes, lock inlet and ramrod thimbles inlets. When doing several coats of oil finish.
I use iron nitrate, tried and true oil, and or Dansh oil to finish the stocks. And inevitably it starts to fill in the pinhole and inlets. Use the drill bit gently using your fingers and not with a drill motor. Remember all the holes and inlets were machined in with correct tolerances. And you want them cleaned out to assemble the rifle. Good luck with the build.
