Weather proofing a cow knee?

I just purchased a cow knee for my rifles and was wondering what others used to weather proof there's? I thought about mink oil, but thought I would get other opinions before I tried it. Any help is appreciated.

Beeswax isn't so good in colder weather. We get lots of 33 degree rainy days. Been using mink tallow (actually patch lube) from TOW for years. Better for me.

Bees wax, a resin brush, credit card to smooth out the molten wax and a hot air gun.

If it's cold enough the bees wax stiffens up too much you probably don't need the cow's knee on.

I just use mink oil, the kind that's used to waterproof boots.

Another vote for Sno-seal. Best water proofing for leather I've come across.

I think that I would use a tallow bee's wax mixture

Pecard's leather dressing. Costs a bit but worth it for leather in the bush. Also very good for antique leather and moccasins, etc. Used it on my shot snake for years. Guaranteed to repel soggy grits. Udder balm may work good, too, it's made for cow skin (still on the cow! :shocked2. Tree.

Good idea, and I bet you're right. Been around the stuff my whole life and especially around the ocean, but never even thought of trying it.

I use sno-seal on all of my leather goods. It doesn't get too stiff in the cold, and it seems to do a good job of waterproofing and protecting leather.

All good advice so far. But, fact is, any oil or grease will work.
