So I have this problem...I live near a gun shop. and some days, (as many as 3 times a week) my truck just pulls in there, all by itself (I've tried, but I'm not stong enough to stop it!). So today I asked the owner about this old muzzleloader leaning up behind the counter - I could tell it was a cva or similar clone, but it needed repair so it wasn't on display. He handed it to me and said "If you want to fix it, it's yours for $20.00" and then he said "just take it and pay me when you can" !!!
so here's my $20 special, a cva hawken 50cal. Notice the cleaning jag plugging the cleanout screw!!! the guy who traded it in said he'd been shooting it that way for years... but of course I fixed that. And it needed ALOT of cleaning, and half the stuff was assembled wrong. like the set trigger didn't work, 'cuz the fly was on top of the tumbler, not under...but the wood is beautiful, and hey, $20 and a payment plan? I just couldn't pass it up!

Shouldn't have any trouble getting your money back out of that one, if you want. Good job!

Its funny how deals like that just fall into people's lap, never my lap but everyone else. One of the best $20.00 deals I've seen in a long time.

Just wondering, is one of the ramrod's thimbles missing or was this muzzleloader only made with one?

yeah, the middle r.r. guide is gone, but the screw is still there...and the bore is rough but still serviceable. I haven't had the chance to see how it shoots yet, but I'm sure it's worth the money!

Man you are a thief taking advantage of your tired truck like that, you ought to be ashamed of your self. :nono:

Just Kidding, I need to find a deal like that.

See??? That ol' truck just knew there would be a bargain there. Only real deal that happened to me was the $50.00 Springfield Trapdoor about 12 years ago; usually I end up on the wrong side of gun deals.

Now that you found the "Let's Make an Andrew Jackson Deal", if the truck keeps insisting on taking you to the gunshop all by its lonesome self, now you've got something to shoot your truck with, and at least you bought the rifle cheap enough so that afterward you could very easily just throw it away to ditch the evidence.
Between that "My Mother The Car" truck of yours and that loansharking gunshop owner, you're totally stuck somewhere between a rock and a hard place!
Just act like the NH license plate motto that's on your truck, "Live Free or Die!" :blah:

Shoot it like ya stole it, cause you did just that!

I have a CVA Frontier, that has the jag in the clean out screw as well. I really don't have a problem with it.

Congrats on them deals!

I would rather die of thirst or starvation, before I passed up a gun shop

A truck that takes you to gun stores where you can find st-- um DEALS??? How much for the truck?? :rotf:
