A friend & I are trying to plan a caribou hunt for 2006 & we are looking for an outfitter with a good reputation that is affordable for an average working man. (we're not rich) I plan to go with a muzzleloader, but my friend is going to use his brand new Ruger "hi-performance, flat shooting, big bang, kill three animals half a mile away, without reloading" rifle. Does anyone have any experience with Caribou outfitters in Quebec? I'm not just looking for names of outfitters. (I can find plenty of them in the magazines) I'd like to hear about peoples experiences & recomendations/warnings for different outfitters.

Thanks in advance

Hey BMM, just read your post, re caribou hunting. Have you considered Newfoundland? They have some pretty good animals over there. I have never hunted for caribou, but did hunt moose with an outfit called "Parsons Pond Outfitters" The contact person is Roger Keough. They have a web site , I'm not sure what it is but you can google it up. We saw lots of nice caribou even though we didn't have licences for them. There was 5 of us and all filled our moose tags.
The Keoughs are a great bunch of fellows, and there outfit is not a "Fancy Hunting Lodge" just a good hunting camp and lots of great food. Can't quote you a price, but it wasn't too bad as I'm a working stiff also. ::

If Alaska is an option to you my good friend is an outfitter up there.
PM me if you are interested and I will contact him and see if he can fit you into his schedule.
He runs a great fishing camp up there but he doesn't advertise his hunting packages due to the fact that repeat clients book him up year after year.
www.fishclearcreek.com is his site (check out the picture on the photo page of the guy kneeling down holding a red salmon, it's me ::).
He's an average working man, retired Army Sergeant Major.
Greatest guy I know.
His rates are very fair and he get's you on the animals.
I planned on Caribou hunting with him this fall but I am going to Iraq.
