We have two matches a month. First Sunday, we shoot a club match. We start at 25 yards with pistols. Best 10 out of 13 count for score. Two divisions, single and revolver. Then we go to 50 yards with the rifles. Best 5 out of 7 count for score. 2 divisions of rifle, round ball and conical. Then we go to 100 yards. Best 10 out of 13 count for score. All are standing free hand except at 100 yards. At 100 you can sit, stand or prone.
The third Sunday of the month we do the Winchester/NRA qualifiers. Everyone shoots at what ever rank your going for.

Our club shoots once a month.

Rifle is usually two offhand relays (5 shots per) at 25 yards, one offhand at 50 and one off cross sticks at 50 and one 100 yard offhand.

Pistol is 10 rounds at 25 yards, duelist.

Most of the shooting is on NMLRA targets.

We don't differentiate between ignition types. It's shoot what you brought.

That is very interesting. We also have turning targets for pistol at 25 m. You have about 3 seconds to shoot once the target turns and about 7 seconds between turns. I really enjoy this! Mind you I am only a novice on the turning targets and are happy just to hit the black.

Regular shoot once a month. 25 yd Offhand, 50 yd. Offhand, 5o yd. Bench and 100 yd. Bench. 5 shots per target. Used to have separate categories for Flint and Percussion, but now either. A Mystery Match made up of whatever oddball target I can come up with at 25 yds Offhand. 1 to 3 shots. (I'm working on new ideas and longer ranges). We also have pinto beans and cornbread (or chili) and cake for dessert. And we always have somebody shooting in a new rifle they built. Oh, we also have a pistol match at 25 yds.

Also have a "Primitive" match once a month which consists of sitting around the fire drinking coffee and eating deer meat, saltpork and hoecake and shooting the bull until we gather the strength to walk the path back in the woods to shoot at gongs and chains. Then back to the half-face to eat and drink whatever we missed the first time.

Now that does seem like fun! I heard our club had a competition to see who could shoot the strings of helium balloons. You could do a reverse version where you had to shoot the string of a tin can.
Yesterday the guys organised an impromptu BBQ. We have a club room which is also very handy.

A couple of clubs here do a primitive - I mean really primitive- weekends.

Regular shoot once a month. One target at 100 yds best 5 of 7 shots. Two targets at 50 yards. One NMLRA Double Bull Buffalo target. One bull is 3 shots closest to center, other is 5 shots for score. Four targets at 25 yards. A single bull from a 50 yd six bull, 5 shots for score. A single bull from a 6-bull slug gun target, 5 shots for score. An X card, 3 shots closest to center match. A novelty target of some sort, usually 5 shots for score. Someone usually also brings some old eggs or christmas ornaments for fun quarter matches as well. Offhand, either style of lock, open sights only. We shoot the 4th Sunday of every month except November. We shoot regardless of weather unless the range is flooded out. Covered firing line from 25 yards to 100 yards.

We shoot every month. The November shoot is our turkey shoot. Winner of each target both rifle and pistol, mystery match and match aggregate. In the Winter shoots I just add more alcohol to my spray bottle for wiping. We also host a yearly scholarship shoot for the WVMLA. Once in a while we have a little trap shoot and we used to do a good bit of rifle-musket and smoothbore matches. That's fallen off over the years since only a couple of us who are left shoot them. I want to get that started back up.

We have a Mountain man and Woodswalk, ten shots each. Different Club Members volunter to set them up each Month. Once in a while there will be Fire starting and an odd Hawk and Knife toss. You never really know what you are getting into!! Shoots are once a Month and there is a covered Range for bad Weather. Ten point penalty if You use a Caplock.

We shoot every Sunday. You can shoot competition on any given Sunday but your score is valid for that month and you must nominate it as your competition shoot before you shoot it. No sneaky stuff! The club president then calculates an overall score for the year. Prize giving is in November. To qualify for a competition score you need to shoot at least 4 months I think. But I think you would need to score close to a perfect 100 on each occasion. We also run a handicap system which encourages the newer members. The occasional low score may actually help your overall score initially.

Cheers guys.

NONE. My local club is very heavily invested in Cowboy Action Shooting, so there are no shoots for long guns pre-1836 technology. I have to travel to other clubs to do a shoot..., BUT...., as my club is pretty well established, and other clubs can use the patronage, that's not so bad as I get to support other groups that are into this pastime, and I get to meet other folks interested in ML shooting.

I'm also shooting with Mosin Rob (at the Old Bridge R&P Club's Black Powder League). Through the Winchester/NRA Qualification Program I've been able to earn my Distinguished Expert in Muzzleloading Rifle and my Expert in Muzzleloading Pistol. Currently have 3 out of 5 legs needed for the DX in Pistol. This Club's League is VERY active and we have approx. 30 registered members or so that appear on a whenever-they-show-up basis. Rob has earned his first few ranks so far in our Qualifiers, and has taken advantage of all of the extra practice that brings with it!

In addition to that Club, I belong to another that shoots the last Sunday of the month January-November up on a farm in North Jersey. They do Woods Walks, paper targets, a meat shoot every-so-often, etc. A fall Rondy around Columbus Day weekend is also an annual event. I am their Pistol Match Director and I run an annual event whereby we employ various sized Gongs worth differing point values, combined with a tradional 25 yard paper target shoot. A 20-shot COF with a possible aggregate of 200 points. Flint, Cap, Smoothbore and Revolver Divisions are well represented at this Match.

CONGRATS--and I stand corrected! Didn't realize that you accomplished so much in such a short amount of time Rob! Great shooting!

See you at the Range very soon (this Sunday?)!

We shoot about 24 shoots in a 10 month period. We shoot offhand, bench 50, 75 and 100 yards. Pistol at 25 yards. Silhouette 50 to 200 yards. Chunk gun at 60 yards. Also have a 5 position match.

I should be there. Got a email from Lance saying it might be a very short match cause of the weather. I think he said rifle only, 20 shots at 50y.

ONLY the rifle match gets shortened Rob! We will still be doing Pistols at 25 yards at the beginning of the match!

The COF for rifles on a really cold day is (20) shots on a B-19 at 50 yards, and the best 15 count for score. We give-up the 100 yard targets and save the time & exposure to the cold moving & setting-up at 100 yards causes....everything else is the same.

Hope this clears thing up. See ya Sunday!

Dave

Our club shoots monthly. All rifle, mostly offhand. Targets are varied each month to keep things interesting. Haven't had a pistol match in a long time. Have been trying to get shotgun/trade gun matches going but the interest seems low.
BTW, my club allows the use of peep sights. Our membership is mostly over 70 years old.
