Somehow I have managed to end up with a problem with my great plains flintlock. I do not think I buggered anything up, at least not intentionally.

When I use the set trigger, pulling the firing trigger only drops the hammer to half cock. When I use the firing trigger only, it drops all the way.

What do I do?
Thanks in advance,

I think the lock incorporates a fly so that you have to first let the hammer down from half cock and then pull it back to full cock for it to fire. See if that works.

:hmm: Sounds as though there is not enough spring tension on the set trigger . try tightening the tension on the spring that powers the set (rear trigger) Also make sure the fly is moving without catching.

If you had the lock apart make sure the fly is there. And if so that it pivots freely.

This problem appears on the board about once a year...answers are the same. In addition to what's been said, when I had the problem, I did two things: one, I got the lock "innards" almost dry of lube, and two, I took a coil off the coil spring that drives the sear...Hank
