Had a laid up rubble stone rock wall near the dn stairs entrance of my house. A chipmunk had built a nest up inside of the wall , and his nest was taken up by yellow jacket bees. One evening I came home from work , and was trying to get to the door , and a yellow jacket stung me. That pi$$ed me off , and retribution became necessary. Loaded my Brown Bess w/ a charge and a half , with enough news paper to hold the powder back against the breech plug. Waited until late in the evening , so all the occupants would be home . Stuck the muzzle into the bee entrance and boom. Guess the back of the wall must have been full of chipmunk tunnels. Smoke came out from several unexpected places for about a minute , no more bees.
