Sean,
I don't think that's what they mean when folks write or talk about a coal carrier....

Oh wait....you were talkin' about the size of the fire....never mind

Some people walk on hot coals. "Ha" Sean says -- he's from Colorado!

As for alcohol, it doesn't have to be hunting camp...even if we're just firing blanks, the smokepoles are put away before folks imbibe.

Then there's the other question...of getting drunk...., only had one fellow we had to ask to "take his leave" in the past 25 years, and he was new to us (though not new to the hobby). Wanted to down a 16 oz. Bud for his hangover cure on Sunday morning...and then wanted to go onto the field later to shoot blanks. :nono: He was welcome to have the beer, and to come to future events, but he wasn't welcome to go on the field that day, and he was informed of that before he drank it...oh well, he stormed off and left the group. Found out later he'd been asked to leave other groups for the same reason. :shocked2:

The other problem with lots of drink during summer, or hot weather events, is the higher likelihood of a heat casualty.

One of the downstate 3rd NY Reg't drunks drove his car into the moat at a Fort Adams 250th Anniversary Rev War event one night. The police agreed to have him disarmed and left in the custody of the unit, confined to his tent with an overnight guard, to ensure he safely sobered up in lieu of arrest. He too was encouraged to seek professional help and/or leave the unit.
