I am buying a SxS and I had the seller shoot a pattern from each barrel with the bead under the aim-point on the paper at 16-yards. One purpose was to see that the barrels are properly regulated. The other was to check the pattern(s) since the chokes are unknown. The regulation seems to be pretty good. The patterns seem to be around IC in both, maybe a hair tighter in the left. What do you think of these patterns? Anything stand out? Thanks

Note: This is a 24-gauge and was fired with 65 grain square load using #7.5 shot.

Pretty typical for cylinder bore. You could get a little tighter by wrapping your shot on a paper cartridge
I know square load is the big go to, but for a little longer range to you might try 50% more shot volume then powder.
Use a tuna can bottom. If your shot penetrates that you have dead small game to Turkey

Shot seems to be centered if that is your concern,of course, someone else is shooting. And 16yds is pretty close, try it at 25-30 yards to get a realistic idea.
I have a “jug choked” 14ga smoothbore that I patterned today at 25-30 yards. I went up to a 2oz shot load, one with #8 shot, one with #5 shot. Increasing the shot load and powder charge made a huge difference in my gun. I also shot one .672 patched round ball just for fun.

Looks reasonable, you can tighten the pattern by using a paper shot cartridge. I make mine from three thickness of newspaper wrapped around a dowel rod and tied of with kite string.

Looks pretty good. Obviously playing with the load will help improve it. I'd be happy with it though
