What Game/Critters to Members Hunt?

Hunted buffalo at Lemon Stream Gamelands in Anson,ME. in Nov. Have hunted red stag there last two years (they also have fallow deer and elk heards). The place is approx. 2mi. long and 2mi. wide in the Maine woods, a great hunt, and very nice people who run it. Took one shot with my Hawken 50cal. loaded with 80gr. of 777 pyro and pushing a t/c minni-ball, never tried the t/c bullet before. The buffalo was at 60yds., went 30ft. and droped to the ground. Now have 400lbs. of prime buffalo meat,having head and robe being done.

In the winter whitetails, bear, boar, whichever's in season. In the summer pasture griz. Only got one rifle, a .50 CVA percussion sidelock. :thumbsup: :redthumb:

I hunt with my muzzleloader during the Massachusetts shotgun season. This opens up on the first monday after Thanksgiving and runs for two weeks. Then I hunt until December 31st during the muzzleloader season.

I have taken deer, a wild boar and a red deer hind( female) with black powder so far. I think that a buffalo hunt would be neat and sort of different. I want to make that as my big game goal for 2005.

I mostly hunt whitetail, turkey, and pheasant. This past fall/winter I had my first whitetail hunts with the muzzleloader and I'm looking forward to using a new 20 gauge fowler for turkey this spring and pheasant in the fall. I love shooting flintlocks! I hear, once you have a taste of that black powder - you never go back!

Morning Jim, I do virtually all of my whitetail hunting during the Nov. BP season. If I still have an unpunched elk tag, I hunt elk at the same time. Use a 54 T/C renegade with a 36 inch barrel. Been doing it this way for going on 30 years. This year BP filled all of my tags. Mike

soon as my gun comes in, i learn what i'm doin, and the season rolls around, i'll be hunting whitetails and hogs. i'd like to get in on some public drawings for elk or mule deer. i hear there are good opportunities in new mexico in hte lincoln national forrest area. anyone know anything about them?

Far out ahead #1 supremo is the wild turkey! I switched to an antique fowler last year and filled both my tags the smokey way - loved it! Also am a very avid waterfowler and took the muzzleloader out once for that and got a couple of geese and a nice drake mallard.

Got a T/C New Englander around Christmas and am looking forward to using it this spring for my longbeards. It also came with a .50 cal. barrel and I am seriously considering a try at deer. I haven't deer hunted in about 8 years, but the BP challenge intrigues me.

Flintlocks: Squirrel, rabbits, a few doves, TURKEY, deer, coyotes and a few ghogs.

Turkey, Deer and squirrel are my favorites!

I've hunter deer with my 50 Hawken and my 50 flintlock, but my all time favorite is hunting quail with my flint tradegun over my old springer girl. I lost her last year and haven't hunted since, but quail with a tradegun is certainly a sporting proposition (much to my dog's disgust). It's extremely hard to hit them on the wing, but when I connect it's fun, fun, fun. If I get one for every 5 or 6 shots, it's a great day. Funny to watch too.
I also hunt with modern firearms.

Without a doubt, my favorite thing to hunt is Bambi's Grandpa! Since I bought the my .58 Mississippi rifle, I think I have only picked up a smokeless gun two or three times for deer and those were rainy days when I didn't want to get the Mississippi wet. There's something about having to wait for the smoke to clear to see if you killed what you were aiming at that really floats my boat. I have only lost one deer.... a track record of which I am proud of (although I wish it were none lost).

I'd like to take a whack at a turkey this year if I can afford to buy a BP shotgun. I've been lusting over some double 12's here lately.

I've been lucky enough to have gone on a few moose hunts,shot 2 in Maine 1 muzz ldr the other bp ctg in a 45-70 sharps. Shot 1 in New Hampshire with the BPctg Sharps.Lost one near Ghost bay( first moose hunt)Lake Of The Woods Ontario,Canada high lung shot with T/C New englander .50 cal Maxi ball, wish I knew then What I've learned since.
I hunt bear, taken 1 with 20.ga. Caywood flinter, 2 with caplocks.
Shot a couple deer with caplocks,3 large boar with flinters
shot acouple turkeys with flint and perc.
I just need my wife to get an x-tra job so I could hunt more.

I haven't got chance at a moose yet here in Nova Scotia.The hunt is by Lottery only and I have got lucky yet.
I hunt Deer Regilously with my Percussion guns and have taken quite a few and got my first Muzzleloading buck this fall with my New Englander and a PRB.
I have been practicing with my first flintlock lately and have plans on trying to kill one this years with it.
Oh yeah,grouse are one of my favorites with my smooth bore too......I'm getting the erge now to shoot at some steel tomorrow... ::

I hunt mostly in NC and some in WVa. Game hunted:Mostly Whitetail deer, some Wild Turkey and Black Bear. Usually put 2 to 3 deer in the freezer each year with my flinters. Thats plenty for the two of us. Haven't got a bear yet with a flintlock. Seen some during the season, but just never had a good enough shot to take yet. Still hoping one day...Thinking about trying predators: coyotes and bobcats. Haven't hunted any small game in years.
