Hi! I don't know if I am in the right Forum Because I don't know what A flash cup is.Could someone please tell me what it is and how to use it? Thank-you! wolverine trapper!

A flash cup is a little cone-shaped metal thingie made to go under the nipple on a percussion rifle. The idea is to protect the stock and the shooter from flash and debris as the cap fires.

I find them absolutely necessary on rifles with drum bolsters because I shoot with my forehand clear back by the lock. Flame and slag from caps goes right down my shirt sleeve. They're not needed on guns with "snail" or patent type breeches in my experience, though.

My TC'c have one on them..None of my others have one and I wish they did since I shoot lefty and all my rifles are right side locks..I get burned every shot but I deal with it.. :cursing:

On a drum I think they are pretty indispensable, IMHO the nearby wood could get charred without one- any one else experience this?
