Let me see, we dress in clothing one hundred and fifty years to three hundred years out of style, shoot dirty nasty primitive guns, sleep under old canvas and heavy wool blankets, cook out of style food in heavy metal pots that look great but doesn’t cook any better. Ect ect.
I think beating dead horses is about par for the coarse.

Actually, dead horses are known to make a fine oil that will serve well in your muzzleloader. Probably better than bear oil.

Listening to an old time radio show podcast, I heard a WWII era commercial that reminded that petroleum jelly was rubbed on metal to prevent corrosion.

I’ve eaten a bit of horse and burro, beats beef, don’t know why the oil wouldn’t serve as well as tallow at least.
