What size ball for smoothbore pistol

Have a smooth bore pistol measures at .662, looking to shoot some round balls out of it. I bought some .648 that seem to fit with a .020 patch (have not shot them yet) but not sure if that's my best bet

Those should do fine provided they load reasonably easy.

The beauty of a these guns is that with a thick patch one can use undersize balls and with an over load card or wad one can go up to barrel caliber size roundballs.

If it fits with a decent enough seal...it shoots.

I like to go with an undersize ball and a thicker patch. But a caliber size bullet with an over shot card/wad is pretty spiffy also.
