Hi I just after some info on what size patches I should use with a .575 round ball in my .58 cal Zoli harppers ferry flintlock.

Best thing to do first, is to Mic the bore to find out the true calibre. They are rarely exactly what they say. Then you can work out your patch thickness. If it is a true 58, you may find that your ball size is a bit tight. (just my opinion)

i just got one has a tight bore a 562 and 0 th patch load easy 15 th patch is tighter

If I read the OP right he wanted the patch size, not the thickness.

Using the Zoniemethod I figure the diameter of a patch should be about 1 7/16 to 1 1/2 inches.

This size isn't super critical but the patch definitely must be larger than 15/16 inches.

Just seat a ball and patch cut it at the muzzle, then remove the ball with a screw and measure the patch. It will be the exact patch diameter size needed for that ball and caliber. MD
