What size patch?

I've just recently finished my 54 cal flinter and I've found out that the round patches that I use for the 45 cal(1 inch dia) just dont't wrap around the ball enough. I cut my own patches and was wondering what diameter I need for the 54. Help I so confused 1 1/16,1 1/4, or 1 3/8?

As another reference, the Oxyoke and TC precut patches I use for .58 & .54cals are 1+3/8" diameter

The hole saw I use to make patches for use in .50 to .58 is a 1 3/8".

I'm with you, RC. I cut the patch at the barrel, but I have never retrieved one and measured it. Good idea, I will try it next time.
