Im about to start casting, and wondered what you all suggest weight wise for my .54 i see they make a 300 gr and a 380 gr my barrel is a 1-48 twist on the Lyman. also considering trying the lee real in .50 caliber as well, any advice or direction will be appreciated

I'd try them both, but with the heavier I'd expect to need hotter charges for best accuracy.

Don't forget the lubed felt wads under those REALs!

I have both weights of REALs and both weights of Maxiballs. The Maxiballs shoot better in my .54 T/C New Englander than the REALs do. I used 85 gr. of 2F and got good groups without a lot of recoil.

try hornady great plains bullet. same consept but a lot easier than casting. already lubed.
