i just traded off an absolutly beautiful lancaster custom for a production gun and a semi custom and im as happy as a clam. i will shoot these with no fear of scratches or dings where the custom hang mostly on my wall along with a coupel more ,i have a house in 50flint and a brennen in 54 and i shoot neither. now i have a little .40flinter and i can shoot the crapp out of it. this with 62smoothie wilson is my two favorites ,and the customs,wellthey are nice to look at . :v

Nope Traditions offers a Pennsylvania carbine now with a 33 inch barrel. Not like the rifle that had a 40.25 inch Barrel

seems like cva made alot of those pennsylvania rifles,but you never see them for sale, everyone put them on the wall? I have one and my brother wants one,but we can't find any, we check all the auctions and round robins,even put it on the wish lists in places...but nothing happens...are they a collectors piece or just gatherin dust? anyone know? RC

I saw one a few months ago on gun broker. Just keep looking,even eBay has stocks,barrels and locks from the older guns.good luck

I have 4 rifles with known people's name engraved on their barrels and they get beat just as badly as my oldest TC. I don't baby guns at all. I don't abuse them, I use them and whatever happens, happens.

Back in the day I sold quite a few of 'em, but in more recent times, I have seen exactly one. It was in bad shape. I cleaned it up as best I could and sold it in the store the following week. It didn't come back with any complaints.

Interesting,I have one of those CVA Pennsylvania long rifles,and I just had it out today first time it has been shot in at least 6 years,I put it away in middle of deer season loaded,it was still loaded,I pulled the toothpick out of flash hole trickled a few grains of powder in flash hole, primed her up and rang a tombstone gong about 40 yards away, the reason she got put up loaded was there was a family medical emergency,and with trying to care for family member for years I just didn't have the time to shoot the load out and give her a proper cleaning. Things have changed the last few months so I once again have some time to get back into shooting the muzzleloaders.

I might try to take a picture or two of her and post on here in a day or two if I can figure out how to post pictures.

Nice to find this thread as I recently inherited my father's CVA PA longrifle with the 40" barrel.

Anyone know the twist rate in this thing?

I'm contemplating a refinish with iron nitrate on the stock and a deep browning of the barrel. The furniture finish is in good shape, but the rifle just doesn't look right with it.

Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
