Swiss is 10-15% HOTTER than Goex IMO. So you use 10-15% LESS Powder per Shot. I also think Swiss Burns Cleaner.

Check the ML Suttler Links on this Web-site for seller of Powder.

never tried swiss,been pretty happy w/ goex, how do they compare price wise?? goex 3fff shoots pretty clean too.. RC

IMO, Goex is the best price/performance choice for the following reasons:

Neither of them leave huge amounts of fouling, and as it is, I already shoot 40-50 shot range sessions without having to wipe between shots using Goex 3F and either Natural Lube 1000 or Hoppe's No9 BP Plus lube;

Both are extremely accurate powders;

Both require thorough cleaning after shooting;

A case price of Goex delivered to my porch is $10.25/LB, while Swiss is $16.50/LB.

I shoot a lot and am not independenty wealthy, so it's a no brainer for me.

They're both good. I've been told by some very knowledgeable shooters that the Swiss brand is a bit cleaner than Goex but it's also considerably more expensive. Something to the tune of $5.00 per pound more. Being a lowly State employee, I'll opt for the Goex. More bang for my few bucks!!

I have shot 10 times without swabbing using Goex 2f in my T/C Hawkin without any problems. To me that's clean enough buring. Cleanup is a breeze. I use the Soap and Water method. I also don't have any problems with BP Subs like Pyrodex. Lucky I guess. Used both in my Pistol and Rifle with no problems. I order my BP, Goex, from Grafs. I had no problems with the company.

The best place to get swiss goex or sheutzen is the maine powder house 207 562-7499. Its all good,swiss is the bestand you can use less.

I buy American whenever possible therefore, it is Goex that I shoot. Goex has come out with a highly refined powder to counter the Swiss stuff called Pinnacle. Have not used any yet, those who have say there is not a dimes bit of difference between the two.

Check out Graf & Son's, free shipping to your door, four pound minimum order. I buy their Graf house brand of BP, it is made by Schuetzen and is exactly the same. William Knight (the mad monk of black powder) broke it down and confirmed it was.

Uh, isn't Pinnacle a synthetic? (actually, I think it is made by American Pioneer) Goex does make the Express BP, about the same price as Swiss.

Not Pinnacle...that's a BP sub...the one they've come out with to compete against Swiss is called Goex Express.

As I said, I heard that the Swiss is cleaner burning. You agree. I did'nt mention or state that the Swiss was more powerful, you did. So I learned something new today! I stated that you get more bang for the buck with Goex and you agreed. Thank You!!

Yur right, I was referring to the Express stuff - Pinnacle is the substitute.

In my expierence. which is worth what you paid for it , Swiss seems to be a more powerful powder ,volume for volume.It is also cleaner burning .I like it better in my small cal.rifels.But can't justify the added expense, that being said , Goex works just fine and on the recieving end you will never be able to tell the difference.There are no percentages of dead.

Swiss is the best powder I have ever used. It develops more energy per equal measure than Goex and burns much cleaner. As others have pointed out, it also costs considerably more. Whether it is worth the extra expense is up to the individual shooter. I don't think it is for my shooting, which is why I use KIK. It costs less per lb than Goex but like Swiss, also burns cleaner and develops more energy per equal measure.

I like Swiss for my .50 hunting rifle. I only use 60 grns of 3f and am quite pleased with the accuracy out to 100 yds. In my Bess, I'll use Goex though as it takes much more powder.
