Where are you guys buying shot?

Going prices around here are ~$45/ 25#. Wondered if you have any good leads for less expensive stuff! Thanks.

Shop around on the net you should be abe to find it for $30 or less a 25 lb bag. Metal prices are dropping. Recobs has it $29.99 a bag.

If you guys ever want the best prices on shotshell components go to Trap shooters .com these guys always know where the best prices of components are. Trap shooters are cheap, ok frugal. :grin:

Bill: Shot this small is usually sold in 25 lb. bags. What could you possibly want with only 8 lbs of #7 1/2 or #8 shot?

Find a local trap club, and I am sure you will find some member who will be happy to part with a part of a bag of his shot for whatever he paid for it, per lb. :thumbsup:

Floored me, too. I just used up a bag of #6 that had $13.75 written on a tag pinned to the bag. It was an oldie! Gander Mt. wanted $44.99 for the replacement I bought. Ouch!

I don't need a lot of shot, just enough to goof around with shot loads in my Brown Bess. I found a local gunshop that had a few buckets of old shotgun shells for sale about 25 cents apiece, so I bought a dozen or so. Cut them open and dumped into a jar and I'm set for my tinkering. It works out to about $3-$4 a pound of lead, but I got a few shots worth of various sizes. A shotgun shooting range may have a few misfires laying around waiting to be scrounged.

I was just in Sportsman's Warehouse getting my 2009 licenses and tags so I went to check prices on shot. They had all their lead shot marked down from 34.95 to 29.95 for 25lbs. All they had left was one bag of #4's. Guess I got that info late.
