Boiler, I'm making a "junior" sized rifle out of a partial kit I purchased on Ebay. It is a Jukar pennsylvania style rifle with the two piece stock. I believe Traditions still sells them. I only got the barrel, stock, buttplate and toeplate but I only paid $60 for it. I had a CVA lock that I knew would fit which only required a small amount of inletting. It doesnt' have a patchbox so I am changing it from a pennsylvania style to a Tennessee style gun. I will put a small oval patchbox on it, Plain brass RR thimbles, Tenn. style trigger guard, cold-peening a plain single trigger, buckhorn style sight and a pewter poured nosecap. The length of pull is only about 12 - 12 1/2 inches. It is a 7/8" barrel in .45 cal. The buttstock/wrist of these kits is extremely thin while the forearm is extremely thick, I am taking a ton of wood off the forearm which should lighten it up even more. I would guess it will be about 6 pounds when I am done. I am going to pour a pewter nosecap because quite bit of wood is missing there, I don't think I could fit a sheet metal nosecap on very easily. The wood is just some sort of plain wood, the sections don't even match color but I will stain it dark.
