Your stuff looks good to me. You can't go by what stuff brings on Ebay sometimes. I once listed a really nice powder horn without a reserve or starting bid on Ebay, it went for $5.65. I never did that again. You just never know. Sometimes things go for way more than they're worth and other times no one wants it.
I think alot depends on how many similar items are listed when you list yours.
Good luck with your stuff.

dont know how your auction was laid out or what you where charging for shipping, but if it is unreasonable and out of line, people will tend not to bid.

Just a thought,not an accustion.

Your items look great! I dont know why they wouldnt of brought bids.
blackpowder cat. in sporting goods, I assume is where you listed them???

Much depends on, where and how one's auction gets posted on eBay.

When I sold my handmade items on eBay few years back, (somewhere around 1000+ positives, 2 or 3 baddies ) I strived to get it into the right category, (not where one would think) and then to get as many key words into it as possible for other categories.

well ty for the compliments guys my auction was set at 5 days on the bag with a starting bid of 8.00 shipping was like 6 the knife was set at 3 days starting bid of 15.00 shipping around 3-4 the bag was listed under sporting goods- hunting- accessiories and it it did sell for 12.79 and the buyer loved it i had hoped for around 20 on it the knife was listed under sporting goods-hunting-vintage-black powder as far as keywords i tried the ones i most often search for longhunter mountain man and black powder in the item title there werent a lot of similiar things in both cases coming up in my searches prior to listing so i figured i stood a good chance at a sell the knife i had hoped for around 25 its a nice piece really old i just did some restoration/modification work to it i have more of them i had hoped to list later but now im not sure ill try and post pics of more things ive made soon as i can ty guys

I have had items that I put on ebay and no one touched it. Then I relisted it. Same wording nothing was changed and it sold quickly and at a good price. I allways research the price I am going to sell at and start in that ballpark. Dont want to let go of good quality items cheap. Your buyer is out there, they just may have missed your item.

Ebay is odd that way. I guess it depends on who's looking and when. I've sold collectibles that normally sold for a high price, only to have mine sell for the low opening bid. One time I listed some giant, carved african water buffalo (cape buffalo?) horns that I had seen selling for over $1000 in other place. I didn't get a single bid. Other times, I've had the bidding go nuts over something that wasn't worth nearly as much as it ended up selling for. It's always a crapshoot.

There are a couple things to remember when posting an auction on Ebay - 1st, try to have your auction end Sunday evening. 2nd, have key words like "longhunter, muzzleloader, mountain man, blackpowder or reenactor" to get exposure to several catagories. 3rd, have a postage calculator available for the buyer. Then the most important ..... hope for the best and expect the worst - the business life is a gamble for sure.
My wife sews and sells on Ebay - she has had months where she has sold over 50 shirts then other times when she's lucky to sell 3 - go figure :hmm:

jasontn,
E-bay is a manure shoot weather you are
buying or selling. I would find another outlet
to sell your handmade products. I have purchased
a few items that said hand made, but by whose
hands, in what country is the question. Just my
opinion.
snake-eyes :hmm:

Well Jason, you did some really nice work with the knife. Your bag isn't bad either BUT :shocked2: It looks like you used a ball point pen while drawing your cut line on the pouch flap. I mention this because I've done it too and I can see what appears to be the ink line along the flap edges. When I've done it, I've used an edger/beveler to remove those lines. Please don't take this as an attack. Your work shows real promise and talent. It's just one of those things. Good luck

youre right about the ink very good eye that pouch was made bout 4 yrs ago my second attempt at it im gonna post some pics in the photo section today of some more things ive done most of which i have improved on now if i use an ink pen i scrape off any leftover lines before i stain it

Yes isn't strange how someone will pay big bucks for a piece of toast with a pattern that they believe is an image of jesus but won't pay a fair price for your knives.I guess the right buyers did not see your auction listing!

well ive reposted my knife using your guys advice and now i have one bidder still at my minimum but hey its a bidder

Good lookin stuff, Take them to your next voo and put them on a blanket or do some trading with them. That is what I do with the stuff I make.
