Hello again, all. I'm trying to figure out what kind of persona I fit into. Help would be most welcome. I'll list what I'm into, what I have access too, and various info about myself.

Ok, I'm still young by most standards. I'm only 24 (this year). Family (both sides, that I'm aware) are of German heritage. Not sure when they came over from "the Fatherland". I like the embrace both parts of my heratige as I have strong patriotic feelings. I like to hunt and the outdoors (mountains and all) are more comfortable to me than a large city (or any flat terrain).

I own one 1851 colt navy (in .36 cal, of course), but have a strong desire to purchase another (perhaps I'll spring for an Uberti this time instead of another Cabella's Pietta). I practice marksmanship avidly as I am persuing a career in law enforcement and have strong 2nd Amendment feelings. I am currently having a tomahawk custom made (of my design) that has traditional styling and engraving ("Liberty of Death" and "In God We Trust", along with the first 13 colonies' initials burned into the back of the handle). I'd like to say it was passed down as a family heirloom as that is what I plan on doing with it. I own a nice stag-handled 8" bowie. I practice with both the bowie and my current hawk on a regular basis.

Not sure if it will fit, but I also own a bullwhip and am quite proficient at using it.

I have no period clothing to speak of as of yet, but want to purchase some as I am hoping to get into cowboy action shooting at some point in the future (hope I don't get burned for this. I know you fella's don't care for them cartridge folk).

I have an interest in blacksmithing, but have only dabbled in it in my college Materials and Processes class (we made a chissel, and awl, and poured some lead into molds).

So what do you all think? Suggestions? I really have no idea where to start.

Try this...if you could only buy one book to read about a particular early American era that interested you, what would the book probably be about?

French & Indian era prior to the Revolutionary War?
Revolutionary War era itself?
Mountain Man / Fur Trade / Western Expansion era?
etc
etc

FSCGunslinger-Welcome, it is nice to see someone your age showing an interest in muzzleloading. CAS shooting and this web-site have very a little in common(other than CB revolvers), I shoot CAS but I do not talk about it anywhere here. It is not because we do not like B/P or smokeless cartridge, it does not fit anywhere in a muzzeloading forum. You might take a look at early plainsman forum,or even the civil war section at this site, might be areas that spark your interest. There is more knowledge and help available here than anywhere else, plus there is something for everyone. Remember CAS,SASS, and even NCOWS are fantasy sports, go to the historical sections here, and see how much you can learn. I like this site, because I learn some thing new everyday, from firearms, knife making, cooking, you name it, it is here. Best of all it's free....sometimes, what you are looking for, is not right in front of you, maybe it's as close as the next page....Have fun...Respectfully Montanadan

Tell me this also what state is them eastern mountains in. It's not necessary but it does make it fun to know what took place in your area of residence!

Clothes and all can be bought later on the weapon is most important thing as far as I'm concerned.

And I'd love to get into cowboy action shooting it's the fastest growing of the shooting sports and fun, fun, fun. Nut alas I can't afford two hobbies. I guess I'll stick with my eastern Rev war period type stuff.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I just kept checking my old post location and saw that there were 0 replies on there. Didn't think it might have been moved. haha.

I'm in WV, specifically Fairmont. I've posted a few inquiries about picking up a matched caliber set of flintlocks, probably .50 or .54 cal., so that might help with at least one persona. The one piece of equipment I'm gonna keep with all my persona's is my custom pipe tomahawk, no matter what time period. I think I'd like my first persona to maybe be in the Revolutionary War period. Don't have the guns yet, but I like that era. Civil war probably fits what I have access to now, though. *shrug*
