Hey all,
Ive been looking for a new .45 Hawken. When I started my search I thought it would be easy, the last time I did it it was very easy- kits were every kinda. CVA and Thompson especially. I guess I'm showing my age. But I looked through some of the newest posts of the rifles for sale, dont see any. AM I doing something wrong? I cant find any. Fact is searching with MSN or Google only turns up one possible offer. I had no idea it'd be so hard.
I guess I am wondering what happened? I see so much modern stuff its unreal, but I want traditional and seems like that caliber is extremely rare now?
I was able to acquire a Pedersoli, Hawken, percussion rifle in 45 caliber. It took me over a year to get it. You have to keep looking. I got mine from Jedediah Starr in Michigan. The last time I looked there for a friend they were out of stock. Go to trackofthewolf.com They might possibly have new or used ones for sale. Also, Dixie Gun Works.

One of my 45's is a M1887 Springfield Trap Door unconverted, with a Navy Arms .45 cal muzzle loading barrel. I had the stock and picked up the parts mostly from eBay, over sometime lucking into them. Finished it up in 2013

You all noted in the original post he's looking for a kit, right? Specifically in the Hawken/Plains rifle category. OP hasn't been back since they made the opening posts though, so this has all been for out own entertainment so far.

That unconverted Springfield in .45. Me like

No, he didn’t. He said he’s looking for a Hawken type rifle, and said that kits used to be plentiful.

Might try here. Expensive, though. https://muzzle-loaders.com/products..._UUDy421dWhYRKZGUPCWS3jKsntI5vE4Rrk1wHlwlxkM1

I suppose that depends on how the first line in his post is interpreted. Since ready to go .45 cal Hawken rifles are easily found and he mentioned kits I presumed he was looking for a kit which there very few of and none in stock anywhere.

Also, on page one. I gave him a link with an entire page of Investarm rifles on that site.

My Bridger .45 is the only rifle I hunt deer and shoot at Rendezvous with. I love it!

I picked up an Investarm Hawken in .58cal. a few months back. Good shooter plus it brought down a nice 10 point buck last Saturday. Put the smiles on my face and meat in the freezer! I've been Blessed.
